Can you identify this windshield
ON A RECENT THREAD I ADVISED I WAS INSTALLING MY WINDSHIELD ON MY 28 SPORT COUPE. AS IT TURNS OUT, THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT W/S. I DO NOT THINK ITS FOR A MODEL A CAR, MAYBE PONTIAC, OLDS, OR SOMETHING ELSE. HERE ARE THE MEASUREMENTS: 43-5/8" WIDE @ TOP, 42-3/4" AT BOTTOM, 17-1/4" VERTICAL SIDES & 15-3/8" TOP TO BOTTOM IN THE CENTER. THE FRAME MEASURES 1-3/8" WIDE ALL AROUND. HELP!

Re: Can you identify this windshield
I have a 28 special coupe, so I have been through the windshield thing before. The windshield frame you should have is like the bottom one in the first picture. The second picture shows the various styles of 29 through 31 windshield wiper holes. The first two pictures were originally posted by Marco. The third picture shows what the wiper holes look like in a 28 windshield frame. Note the wiper holes are different from all the other years as the wiper on a 28 has an offset main shaft for a OD-C1 electric wiper. Also note the swing arm mounting brackets are different between 28/29 and 30/31 windshields. Hope this helps.

Re: Can you identify this windshield
Thanks for posting the pics Wrndln I had to repair that area on my upper hinge part becuase of someone trying to butcher in a wiper motor and did not know that u shaped area was even there ..I sure I would have figured it out while trying to mount my wiper but now I dont have to..
As far as telling what that other windsheild is for....who knows... |
