CT. Ford Barners
Any CT . Ford Barners have any idea about CT assessment ....
I finally was able to get plates (classic) on my model A roadster this spring. Today I received a questioner to fill out from the assesses office on valve on my model A .... This has me thinking .

Re: CT. Ford Barners
I've never heard of such a thing, and I have had my Model A for about five years.
Is this something you got from your insurance company, or does it claim to be from the state?

Re: CT. Ford Barners
Go to the assesors office and show them your classic plates. The assesment is $500. They may be working off last year's information if you had passenger plates last year. If the car is older than 20 years, you can request the form to apply for the $500 assesment if the car is an original. If you have the white plates, it is automaticlly $500. Assessors work from the previous year's info.

Antique Affidavit
CT law provides for an application for antique, rare or special interest vehicles to be filed with the assessor’s office. Owners may file for a $500 assessment on passenger vehicles, combination vehicles & motorcycles 20 years & older. Applications are available online or at the assessor’s office. http://www.groton-ct.gov/depts/finan...MVpamphlet.pdf

Re: CT. Ford Barners
Mine was done automatically by the Assessor. My Model A, shoebox, and my son's bikes are each valued at $500 for tax purposes. All have white plates. I never filled out any form.

Re: CT. Ford Barners
Going on year # 2 on my 29 tudor. I also have never received a letter from the Danbury assessor, and so far no tax bill? That's OK I pay enough property tax already. I live on Candlewood lake on a "private road". That means no mail box in front of my house (mine is a quarter mile away), no street lights, no fire hydrants, no road maintenance, and the highest assessment in town!!
BTW My year # 2 winter restoration projects have begun. Starting with the doors, then front fenders, then headlight bar and radiator splash shield. |

Re: CT. Ford Barners
What town are you in or being questioned from??
I pay about $20 yr personal property tax here in New Britain. Never did anything after registering with early american plates, now changed to YOM plates, still registered with the early American plates. Paul in CT |

Re: CT. Ford Barners
If you have the white plates, the assesment is automaticly $500. Tax will vary according to the town's mill rate. I pay about $11 per car.

Re: CT. Ford Barners
Towns in CT assess registered motor vehicles for personal property tax. Grand lists are established the previous year and that tax base sets the mil rate, which varies from town to town, for the forthcoming tax bill. For example our last grand list was set 10/14 for taxes due 7/15. Depends on what the town uses for a fiscal year.
Mine are $5.64 per vehicle, but my town has a low mil rate. They've been assessed at $500 each for at least the last six years. |

Re: CT. Ford Barners
I bought her from the grandson who was took it apart from Pa. Motor froze but not seized .
So this spring I had a VIN check and paid sale tax and was issued white Classic plate ,not early American . Ridgefield send me this letter of the estimated valve . I have no reason not to file out and send . Do you think valve is about $7000. . It runs and stops . I would not drive over 45 mph. Doesn't over heat . Original leather interior Thanks for all the feed back guy . TAX's always touches home .

Re: CT. Ford Barners
If you would sell it for $7,000 and someone would buy it for that price then I think the assesment is reasonable. I am assuming that they tax all on real market value.

Re: CT. Ford Barners
Dont fill out the form without talking to the asessor. If you have the white plate, (classic replaced early american) then the assessment is $500. end of story.

Re: CT. Ford Barners

Re: CT. Ford Barners
A fellow built a mansion in Greenwich eqjuipt with an underground climate controlled garage that holds 100 vintage cars. At $500/plate his taxes are based on $50,000. It's full or six- and seven-figure classics..... Retail on that????? Urban legend????? Hmmm
