Default Borg warner OD help

Hi Barners, I have a borg warner given to me without the output shaft or coupler. I have the means to make one but looking into the back side, I was expecting to see a 6 spline shaft. Is there a special coupler used? I was hoping to use a 6 spline, both sided coupler. I counted around 16 splines, is this normal? Thank Mr Tom Endy for your great PDF on all kinds of Model A stuff!

It's been a number of years since I worked on any of these but I recall using a 6 to 10 spline coupler. I know when we were scrounging through the wrecking yards (it became a club project) for BW units we had to make sure we got the ones with the splined shaft we could use the 6 to 10 on. I don't recall finding any coupler with more than the 10 on one end. This was in the mid 80's long before the Mitchell was available.

Thanks Firefox. I agree the Mitchell would be the way to go and they are great especially the way they stand behind their products. I've had a Volvo OD (25 years) and a Ryan (10 years) and wouldn't change them out until I had problems. I still would like to repair this Borg Warner. This Borg Warner measures the correct length but it's not centered on the torque tube (closer to the rear), like it's maybe setup for a Vicky or deluxe phaeton (dropped floor). It's more the challenge than anything else. Definitely 16 spline.
