Use the "search" function and you will find a lot of information. If it is being done for medical reasons people are generally 100% in favor of doing it. Other reasons don't get much support. If I had a need I would use a modern 4 cylinder engine that came with the modern transmission.

Try going to the "Hot Rods and Customs Forum". It will take you to another site. Do some searches on that site. You will probably find more there on what you are trying to do. Here is a direct link to their forum section: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...ssage-board.5/

I have a '32 roadster with a Chevy II engine but its is hooked up to the early Ford transmission. I put it in 40 years ago because at that time I couldn't find any shop to do a good job rebuilding the original engine. If I was doing it today I would use an original engine with a little speed equipment.

If I was going to do that, I'd use the 2.3 or 2.5 which are bored and stroked versions of the 2.0 - higher HP and potential for upgrading to even more. I think a C4 will fit them - if not, I'm sure adapters are available.

If you do use a Pinto engine, just use a stock Model A muffler, and it will sound almost the same as a Model A engine.

Can't help you with a C-4, but check Bendtsen's for a GM 700R4 adaptor (among others). I bet that 4 speed O/D auto would work pretty nice.

I had a '31 with a 2000 pinto mated to a stock A tranny and muffler. Not a good combo because the pinto rev's too high for easy shifting without snychromesh. The prior owner/ installer should have used the pinto manual or automatic. Now someone else has that car.

We used an A4LD out of a Ford Ranger Pick Up, has an overdrive and is working really well for us.

I would stay with the Model A engine, the others do not have much torque. However, I do have a 180 CID Chevy commercial engine that I would willingly part with. It is like a Chevy-2 but with a 4" bore, and more torque.

A company called Speed Gems out of Michigan I believe. They have a website, they put together a complete kit.

http://www.transmissionadapters.com

They don't show this particular adapter on their website, but lots of adapters for chevy transmissions. They do say "ask for what you want".

With all the adapters he has listed, I doubt he has much time to piddle around with a website. Best to give him a call and ask.

Yes, that's Bendtsen's that I mentioned back in post #8. They have all kinds of adaptors.

I contacted the guys at transmissionadapters.com

Carl,

On our website you will find installation instructions for the Model A to Chev automatic installation. I direct you to that as the instructions are very similar and will give you an idea of the steps required. There is a kit available for the Model A to A4LD and it retails for $1495.
