Dad bought his 28 RPU in 1937 for $25 from the junkman. Sold it in 1941 for $25, BACK to the junkman. "Best deal I ever got on an automobile."

That was a fully functional "legal" car.

One imagines a "front ender" Model A would go for less than $10. Far cheaper than an enclosed carriage.

Like the horses, the wheels were probably sitting around the farm.

My Dad bought a 33 Plymouth Coupe once for $50. A little over a year or so later he sold it for $100, and he thought he was really doing something. He sure wishes he had it now!

I college a friend and I combed the neighborhoods and bought junk cars for $15-25 each. We'd tow them behind the supermarket toss the seats and gas tank in their dumpster then off to the scrapyard where we got $45-60. We'd do 2-3 every Saturday until people wised up that scrap iron prices had gone up.

Has an exhaust problem. Could get a little messy with the windshield open.
