Riding my Ford Model A across USA - final update
Hi,
With reference to one of my posts: http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164459 and some of my problems http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=176027 I have decided to cancel the trip and sell the car. I have tried everything possible, but I cannot get rid of the smell. I managed to restore the car from a barn-find condition, make it roadworthy, have it inspected, registered, insured etc etc - but due to extreme bad luck there is this annoying smell. The help from this forum has been unparalleled and I really appreciate it. I bought the car 3 years ago and rented a garage for wrenching. The monthly rent is 250 dollars and originally I planned to rent the place for 1 year only. Now I have paid 9000 dollars in rent - thats the price for a decent (new) Ford Model A. I feel that money is flushing down the drain. And this is why I need to get moving :-). Lucas |

Sorry to hear that. But hold onto the dream. You might find a better car on the east coast of the US someday, and make that trip.

I think as time went on many of us predicted this outcome. Oh well it was fun while it lasted, Wayne

I know it's been a while, but I sure didn't think 3 years have already passed since you bought the car. |

Have you tried putting it on a dyno and checking? It is a lot easier stationary.
Also, you could check for sniffers available for this sort of thing. My modern car gets checked each year with an LPG sniffer. It is incredibly sensitive. |

Did you install a PCV valve? If not, why not? It's a simple and effective way to eliminate blow-by odors.
