Default 1946-48 Ford Convertible Tops

Hello all. I am looking for feedback on who they feel is the best place to buy a convertible top for my '46. I am looking for good fit and quality, not the cheapo route. I will appreciate any and all comments. Thanks

When I got my '47 Convertible, it had a LeBaron Bonney top on it. The top was excellent quality however, they did not install it. Whoever did the installation did not do a good job. As a result, the top didn't last long. I replaced it with a top that I got from a different vendor (can't remember the name), the quality was not as good as the LeBaron Bonney top but the installation (by a shop that has done several tops for me) was much better. Sorry for the long winded explanation but my point is, the installation is as important, no matter the level of quality of the top material and construction.

Trackguy, I installed a LB top on my 48 in 95, I decided to replace it in 2012, I purchased another L B, the inside flaps were sewed in the wrong place and I had to send it back. After about 2 months after installation one seam in top rear of drivers side was coming apart. They replaced the top and offered to pay for reinstalling the top. The second top they sent me also had the inside flaps in the wrong place and had to be sent back. The president of LB got involved and they were behind their product 100%. They make mistakes but own up to it and make it right. The quality is excellent but I have never used any one else so I can't compare. I would go for LB. sorry for the long winded reply.

Thanks for your input. This is my first convertible build so this is new to me. I hope to have a buddy of mine, who is a retired upholsterer, do this for me when he gets back from his wintering in the south.

Thank you. Standing by their product is a huge plus along with the quality.

There was a company in New York that made and stocked 46/48 Ford tops. I got
a black one for my 39 convertible sedan and a tan one for my 46 convertible.
They both fit good and were made from the popular top material. This was 20
years ago, I don't know if they are still around. I still have the 39 and it still looks
good. The instructions to install were excellent. G.M.
