I saw the Facebook post—such a unique car. I am not sure how someone could think they could actually use it and not have the secret uncovered. I hope there is a speedy and intact recovery!

I don't understand the logic of stealing a unique Model A. The parts are not worth all that much and the body cannot be sold without it being identified. But thieves are usually not all that bright.

I hope it gets returned.

I remove the key from the ignition when I park in a public place. I’m not concerned about the car being stolen, more the ridiculous inconvenience if someone swipes the key. I figure the typical teenager doesn’t know how to shift, and besides, who the heck is going to know how to start the engine? I’ll have to rethink this…

Since I know of owners managing to get titles without a frame number in some states and the ability to stamp a new number on the block, I imagine it would be possible to get a title IN SOME STATES not every state. But then, once you have I title to the car you can transfer it to some other states. When we have a car that needs a title we like the ability to get one but that also leaves a path for a stolen car. I think the best chance of finding it is if every Model A owner in the country is watching for it (before it can be repainted). Ii live 25 miles from where it was stolen. I posted it on our chapters website but i doubt that it is still in Washington.....

I’m amazed that anyone would steal one.. they aren’t that valuable, and appeal to a limited customer base. Basically it’s hard to sell complete, and there is no money in used parts, besides the obvious reasons. Model A’s are not desirable to those who generally buy stolen property. My bet is that car is very close to Poulsbo.. within blocks. The perps knew where it was, that generally means locals took it.. pros don’t generally mess with a 15k white elephant..

Probably about as far as they felt like pushing it when they couldn't figure out how to get it started...
