Default Parts suppliers

Good Morning Everyone,

I have recently spent almost $3000 with Mac's for Model A Parts. Getting a copy of the final itemised invoice seems to be almost impossible. I have asked them four or five times. Has anyone else come across this before?

Has anyone any recommendations of who else I should use in the future. Because frankly, I'm not impressed.

Was there not an itemized receipt in each package received? Wayne

Probably shouldn't open my mouth, ...but if you think you are not impressed now, just wait until you start trying to install those $3,000.00 worth of parts!

I used them for early v8 transmission parts and one was rusty, one was a used part! I called them and asked was this a joke, it took several months too get my $$ back €ŁĄ%#!
They stated those parts are rare BUT their catalog didn't state that the parts where used!!

Bratton's is always helpful, friendly knowledgeable and usually ship same day.
Also got original parts from Bert's that are not being reproduced, also good to deal with.

I am surprised that anybody on this forum still buys from Macs. If price is the driving factor, remember what my father always said..."you get what you pay for".

SeaSlug, post #2:
"Snyders, brattons, and Berts. Been impressed with all of them!"

Hey, wait a minute, didn't SeaSlug just say that ?

Yea, I know - but anything that good bears repeating.

Especially the front spring I returned that didn't fit and had a made in a foreign Country label on it.

Had a difficult time getting a refund. 3 calls. No wonder many shy away from them.

In Macs' defense, I once had a quality problem with them (windshield glass arrived broken), and they promptly provided a refund. On the other side, I must say that the quality of their parts has been inferior on some occasions than the other large suppliers. The best thing I can say about them is they have a well organized, readable catalogue, and I am happy that someone thinks there is enough of a market in parts for our 80+ year old cars to put the effort into it.

Sammy Guthrie - Arizona Model A. A small dealer but the information and advice can't be beaten. Price and quality are also good.

MACS used to be a large supplier of NOS parts in the 80s 90s, mostly Model T but some Model A

Wow, that's interesting. I hadn't heard that before. I do know that Mac's predecessor was Tommy Trailor who owned Specialized Auto in Houston. During the early 60s, Tommy would scrounge old parts houses around Texas & Oklahoma looking for parts, but many of those were actually NORS stock. Also, some of those parts along with good used parts were sent to Argentina to be reverse engineered and manufactured as reproduction parts.

I personally deal with Macs and have only had one small problem that was resolved very quickly and to my total satisfaction, I have also dealt with Snyders and Brattons and have had a fine level of service from them also. I am talking six A's so I am. Not an infrequent customer! Wayne

Little Dearborn purchased lots of NOS parts years ago and has been selling them along with repro parts, and this includes everything from Model T to early V8 parts, 1953.

Like Brent, I've never heard of Mac's having NOS parts.
