Bolt size
Hello again everyone.
On my 1928 Model A Tudor the bolts where the torque tube joins the rear axle keep coming loose. I thought of fitting locking wire. Has anyone any idea what size these bolts are? Rather than drill them for wire it might be easier (and cheaper in drills) to but some new pre-drilled ones. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Bolt size
I think you'll find those bolts listed are for the rearmost bolts through the backing plate, not the two that go through the radius rod ends.If your bolts are loosening up you have something wrong, bad bolts, bad surface where the nut or bolt heads ride,or the E-brake carrier or the spacer under it.I think you are going to find that the whole thing has been loose for too long, and all the holes are egged out from rocking back and forth.

Re: Bolt size
Thanks Keith True,
It was the rear ones where the torque tube fit to the rear axle. But I will double check the surfaces and the holes when I put it to pieces to replace the gasket. Thanks to you both. |
