Default Side curtain video

Afternoon everyone,

I have been searching around for ages for information on how to fit side curtains on my 1928 Ford Model A Standard Roadster, without much luck.

In the end I decided to make a video on how to do it. Thanks to Jeff Dupuis in Ontario, Canada, who supplied me with some very helpful photographs of John Zettel's car, I was able to work out how it might be done.

Below is a temporary link to Youtube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tME0OW8HjrY

Once I have cleaned up the audio track (it's a bit woolly) I will post the final link.

If anyone has any comments or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. I am more than happy to include them and correct any errors I am sure to have made.

Thanks, as always, for all you help and advice.

Tony

Wow, that rear curtain goes nowhere near fitting! I'll keep making my own, thanks.

Tony,
Where did you purchase your side curtains? I always though the side curtains came with the snaps already installed. Nice video.

Well done Tony. Loved your solution to the mirror issue. Will use that on mine.
Cheers,

Thanks Tony, I have a 29 Standard Roadster that didn't have side curtains when I bought it. That's my next project to keep the wife happy. Don't know what I would have done without your video.

Tony,

My 29 Std Roadster is currently in the local Upholstery shop waiting it's turn to be worked on. We are doing a complete top. I put new wood in the top frame and luckily I was able to salvage the rear corner flaps and the side curtains. They are in rough shape but will give us something to start with. Your video is excellent! I am going to try to get some short videos and lots of pictures that hopefully will help others when we are through. Once age a huge "Thank You" for doing this.

Hi Tony, good job on the video. I'm sure it will prove useful to anyone fitting the side curtains.
I must draw your attention the the problem you had with the poor fit of the rear curtain at the lower rear corner. I suspect that the poor fitting may be caused by you bringing the curtain on the outside of the hood irons. Now I'm not sure how the roadsters were originally fitted, but the Phaetons had the rear curtain go inside the hood irons (see attached picture) I'll leave it to other Roadster owners to comment and shed some light on the subject. Bit by bit, we will all learn something.
Thanks for taking the trouble to post the video.

Good Morning All,

Very many thanks for your comments everyone. RUNNERBUN, in my extended research over many months trying to work out how to do the job all the photographs or original pictures showed the rear quarter side curtains on a standard roadster on the outside of the hood irons. But I will certainly have another look and see if I fit them on the inside if there is any difference. Thanks for you input.
