Re: Speaking of Air Filters
91A is definitely for a 39. It looks a little different then the 39 I had. I wonder if it is a truck air cleaner even though it is not stamped 91C ?

Re: Speaking of Air Filters
Thanks Pete and Mike! I wonder....When I was about 14 my Uncle bought a '39 Fordor from a guy that my Dad and Uncle both knew well. I went with my Uncle and we loaded it onto the car trailer and took it home. Dad rebuilt the engine and got everything working. I wonder if that air filter came off that car? I was just a kid.

Re: Speaking of Air Filters
If you had a couple of those and wide spaced fenton dual carb intake it'd make for a nice look.

Re: Speaking of Air Filters
Your air cleaner is indeed a '39 model, manufactured by Oakes Products, who supplied this design from February 1939 through 1941.
suffix A1 = AC suffix A2 = Oakes suffix A3 =Industrial Wire (was too late for the 1939 model year, beginning in December, 1939) A unit in the condition yours is in, having such a beautiful patina on an original decal such as yours, I imagine these days would be worth considerably more than a fully restored unit. You have a small treasure there!

A small treasure? Well, it has been said one man's junk is another man's gold. Ebay this rascal and I'm thinking $30ish, maybe a bit more if you find the "right guy".

Re: Speaking of Air Filters
Mike, the kicker is the decal. You just don’t find them in that beautiful condition. This would be a find for someone with a Rouge car, and that’s where the value is.

The engine as purchased was basically complete with just a few small items missing that I have now located and purchased, other than an air cleaner. I like the dry model better than the wet model now that I have seen them side by side for the first time. I'm a 34,35,36 guy having restored one of each year to National Dearborn Award status. By just restoring the engine and transmission, cosmetically correct, I feel very confident I can get the limited project completed before it is my time to ride off into the sunset. Please let me know if you are interested in the sale, and how much will you be asking for the item? My name is Lawson Cox, email is [email protected]. As stated, this item if purchased will bring an end of my quest for parts and I'll be able to set my attention to doing my best work possible in limited time..Lawson Cox

Seems like I inquired about this item before, but if so, here goes again.

Re: Speaking of Air Filters
Thanks Tom. I got it on my phone but not in my inbox on my computer. Go figure. I think the best way to work through this is via a phone conversation. Please give me a call at 404-316-6748, cell or 770-784-0507 landline. Or, send me a PM with your number and I'll call on my dime. I am pretty much technologically challenged it seems. Thanks, Lawson
