Default fordomatic rebuild

I have a 53 ford with a fordomatic trans. When I pulled the pan off I found two broken springs inside. They are in the front part of the trans on the left side. One is larger than the other and they are side by side. I cannot find them in any rebuild kit. Can anyone identify these and tell me where to get them?

Pictures would help ---are they valve body springs --or servo springs ---or something that came out of a clutch pack??

Have you tried a local trans rebuild shop

Springs are considered "hard parts", kits usually only have "soft parts"

The springs are from the pressure regulator body. One is for control pressure and one is for converter pressure.
The only time I have ever seen those springs broken is when the trans was full of water and they rusted out.
You most likley will have to try a trans shop to find springs.
Or you can try Northwest Transmission Parts but will most likley have to buy the whole pressure regulator assm from them.
Im not sure if they were all the same from the early ones up to the late model FMX trans.

Hi all; I just had my 53 auto rebuilt. I was cautioned to never shift from park to drive at high idle. You all know the big jerk or bang! Even the iron case can crack. The cores are getting scrapped and harder to find. Later Newc

Thanks for the input. Northwest Transmission says they might have just the springs and can send them to me.

I rebuilt the Fordomatic on my '51 Victoria myself...parts and help from Fatsco transmission parts. They were helpful and provided me with a manual to help get it all back together...it works great! (They had some used parts too)
