I thing we want a model A Tudor with original equipment. we like the coupes and roadsters too but Im 6'3 and my wife is 5'11" and Im afraid we wont fit in the coupe or roadster.

we want to join our local club and ride with them on the longer trips we will alos use the car for weekend rides like we use our yamaha roadstar.

any input will be appreciated.

I want to buy one that is road ready but im not afraid of working on it latter. Im a machinist by trade and love old cars guns and snowmobiles and motorcycles

As tall as you are, you need to forget the Coupe and Roadsters. A Tudor or Fordor can be adapted to long legs as can the high end cars like the 68C Cabriolets and 400A's or any Slantwindshield car.

Welcome to the Barn.

Tudors are great cars and probably the least expensive of the body styles. I think our coupe has as much leg room as the Tudor, maybe more. Roadsters have tiny doors and are difficult to get into.

I'm 6' 4" and had no problems with my 1930 Sports Coupe -They have an adjustable front seat and I just pushed it right back. My Phaeton is tighter to drive but we still do long miles in it with no problems. Often in restoration the seat springs are not tired down as they should be resulting in a fat seat which severely effects leg room by pushing you forward. I have never owned a Tudor but my understanding is that the seats are fixed but can be easily adjusted by fitting offset hinges-Karl

Welcome ! ! ! Try to find a club near you and go to a meeting. Maybe they'll have their cars with them and with a little arm twisting you could "try" them out. That's what I did at an AACA meet, when asked, everybody said "Sure, hop in".

my wife Alice is also 5'11".
she has a severely arthritic hip which makes getting into our Coupe very uncomfortable.
the s/w Town Sedan was much easier for her, as is our 35 Chebby 2-door.....

make certain you spend a good amount of time riding & driving various body styles to see what works best.

get yoursevlves a knowledgeable mentor to help evaluate potential purchases.
don't get suckered by a shiny paint job that needs $10,000 worth of work to be a good driver.

the Rainmaker rule: if it won't go 45 mph for 45 minutes without something bad happening, it's not a driver.

if a seller tells you "they all overheat" or that bad brakes and steering are "normal" run don't walk away from that car......

have fun!

Welcome to the Barn. I am 6'1" and I find it very difficult to get in my '29 coupe, it's much easier in my Fordor.

Welcome to the barn . Nice folks on this forum with a lot of Model A experience . A Model A capable of going on long trips with no problems is usually priced accordingly. Reliability, drivability and safety are important . I am 6-2 and drive a 31 town sedan s/w with the seat pushed all the way back . Went on a 1,000 mile trip last year. Plenty of room once you are in the car .

Welcome to the barn. Great folks here lots of knowledge. I have a 31 coupe and at a petite 6'1" (haha read that as big boy) it is very comfortable but I do agree not an easy in and out, but every A is tricky with size 13's I guide them in and out to avoid rubbing the doors. My experience is with Tudors A Vicky Roadsters and Pickups both closed and open. It always my feet that are the biggest pain. People tell me fordoors are better but that I can not attest too. I will tell you my coupe has plenty of legroom once your in there. Good luck welcome aboard and keep us posted on what you get.

Welcome welcome welcome!! Where do you live so we may help with local clubs.

My suggestion is join a local club (cheap assistance in your quest), ride in a few of the of the members cars then decide but it seems like you have the right idea.

Welcome ! I think you will find that the Fordors have the most room and are the most comfortable to drive. That being said, none of the Model A's are really all that generous in the front leg room area. I would suggest you try a Fordor and a Tudor on for size to see how they fit before buying.
happy motoring!

Consider a Victoria. The doors are longer and the seats adjustable. I traded my slant window sedan for mine. No regrets!!!!

I am 6'2" and getting into my Town Sedan isn't too much of a problem, but getting out is harder. Henry Ford looks tall, but apparently was 5'8 1/2"
