1937 Ford Headlight removal/alignment
I recently purchased a 1937 Ford slantback, want to remove the headlight bezel and lens to allow adjusting the alignment. Have removed the screw at the bottom of the bezels but the bezels will not come off. Is there a trick to removing the bezel? This may be a no-brainer but thought I better ask before forcing it too much and possibly bending the bezel or dinging the paint,

Pry it off from the bottom, using a screw driver with cardboard between painted surface and screwdriver. It shouldn't take much force.

There is a slot and tab at the top of the trim ring. As Lawson said tap it up from the bottom. Be careful when it releases as it can go out of control. A thick towel or blanket or rug is recommended to cushion the fall if it slips. Ken

Lawson & KGS are both right, .... together.
Pry loose at the bottom and push up to release the ring from the tabs at the top and on both sides. And YES, they will pop off and fly away if you're not careful. The rings will bounce on a concrete floor and survive. The lenses, ...... not so much! |

Thanks for your help. I managed to pop them off today but it was a little scary worried about ruining the glass or the bezel. My wife held on to the bezel to make sure it didn;t get away. |
