Rocky Mountain Brake Hubs
I just discovered I have a set of Rocky Mountain front brake hubs on my 1931 car. I don't know anything about these can anyone enlighten me?
Any info would be great, Thanks |

Re: Rocky Mountain Brake Hubs
Vince's site referenced in Post #2 tells it all. Start be measuring the diameter, Model A should be 11 inches. If 12 inches they are later drums that someone has adapted.

Re: Rocky Mountain Brake Hubs
I could not find anywhere Vince calling the 1931 style drum/hub assy. Rocky Mountain That term is related to Model T aftermarket brakes. If they made Model A set up I have no idea, certainly possible. Terms Terms Terms. If there diagrams or pictures, some body could straighten this out.

Re: Rocky Mountain Brake Hubs
As Charlie said make sure you are looking at an 11 inch drum. Many guys have been fooled.
It is my drum of choice for fronts if they are decent and not too oversized . The hub and drum is integral . They were late 31 and were service replacements. I believe most of them had the A - prefix part number on then on them as well. Larry shepard |

Re: Rocky Mountain Brake Hubs
I wish I had the ability to post a photo, I have not been able to for about a year. The hubs look just like the ones shown on the link above from the Ford Garage. They are the correct 11" dia. cast iron for the '31, the car came from northern California. I guess I will keep them on the car as I restore, I was just curious if they were better or worse than the steel hubs found on most cars.

Re: Rocky Mountain Brake Hubs
I agree with Larry in post #5 . The original type 31 cast iron 11 inch front brake drums that I have seen and have are made as one . In other words there is no separate hub . The drum and hubs are one piece . The original cast iron 1931 11 inch rear drums have separate hubs .
