Re: Two-Door Ford and Mercury Wagons
I am not fond of the radiused rear wheel opening. Looks like they did a nice job of it.

Probably radiused the rear openings because it was such a hassle to change a rear tire with the stock opening.

Re: Two-Door Ford and Mercury Wagons
I've never been fond of 58's, but that wagon looks pretty good to me. I've seen a lot worse cars brought back to life. I think I could live with the radiused wheel openings, but would use narrower tires/wheels.
I also like the 59; I have a 59 two door sedan in HS, all black. I like the style. |

Re: Two-Door Ford and Mercury Wagons
Is that teardrop wearing 56 Customline side trim? I can't tell if the trailer wheel covers are 55/56 or 71 up full size brushed stainless.

Re: Two-Door Ford and Mercury Wagons
This is the best that I can do. It definitely looks like the Teardrop Trailer has 1956 Ford Customline Side Trim on it. |

Re: Two-Door Ford and Mercury Wagons
They look just like the hubcaps that came on my fathers new '71 LTD.

That's a shame they parked it outdoors with the windows open

Re: Two-Door Ford and Mercury Wagons
'Ya know... Back when, this was done to either fit larger tires or a cheap alternative fix for rust perforation. The main trouble was once the car was modified in this manner it could no longer run NHRA STOCK or SUPER STOCK. The main thing that confused me about FOMOCO was the CHEV NOMAD came through with larger rear wheel openings. CHEV was ahead in design with the NOMAD. |

Re: Two-Door Ford and Mercury Wagons
This 1957 Chevrolet Nomad is way past its use-by date. Note that only the 1955 Chevrolet Nomad received larger rear wheel openings. The other Chev Wagons had small rear wheel openings. like the Sedans. For 1956 and 1957, the wheel openings on the Nomads returned to the same small openings as the rest of the Chevrolet models. |

Re: Two-Door Ford and Mercury Wagons
They may have seen better days, but are far from non repairable (like the 57 Nomad shown later). My 58 Chevy Yeoman looked just like that wagon, though mine was also missing the right door window.
