Default 1936 exhaust

I need a complete exhaust system for my 36 pickup. Attached are pictures of what I believe are the original manifolds on my engine. I have looked at the photo shown on the classic Classic Exhaust website and the angle on the header pipes looks they would not mate up to my manifolds. I thought it could be just a stock photo of one of their systems and not for specificially a 36. I emailed pictures and called them and their response was they could not tell it their system would match the manifolds or not but it should be correct for a 36. Are these the correct manifolds, has anyone used their system or any other that would be correct? Thanks, Art

Yes they are correct. Do they have any feedback on their systems purchased and installed by others?

Maybe give Waldron's Exhaust in MI a call.269-467-7185. Good reviews on FordBarn.

I did not see any feedback. I would take suggestions of other suppliers. Thanks, Art

Go on Google and put in Waldron's Exhaust . Feedback is mixed.I did see a Fordbarn member post that was positive.

Remember that the chassis is the same as the passenger car -- so your exhaust system will be the same -- dont let them tell you different.

As you can note from the attached pix', the stock left side exhaust manifold has a dip adjacent to the center port of the manifold to accommodate the oil dipstick.
The exhaust manifolds on my car are original to the car, and the engine is a 59AB. I have an extra set of '36 manifolds which have the dip-stick dip.

I was wondering why you are being so concerned about the correctness of the manifold when you have painted the engine red in lieu of the correct green?

Bill, The engine paint is what was on it when I got it. It should and will be the correct green when I start puting it back together. I am a stickler for originality. Can you post a picture of the manifolds where the exhaust connections are? Art

Art.. I looked through my picture albums, could not find a pix. I'll look through my parts supply for the set of '36 exhaust manifolds I have, I'll post a couple of pix to the forum as soon as I get them.

Here's a picture from Classic's eBay auction - the right side does look incorrect(?)

That is the same picture on the Classic website. It could be just a generic picture is what the owner said. He said if I have the correct manifolds then his exhaust would be correct. That is why I would like to see pictures of correct manifold outlets. It sounds like Bill will be able to verify with pictures. Thanks, Art

The original Early Ford V8 head pipes were not welded together, The right side pipe had a Y that accommodated the left head pipe via a slip-in connection secured with a bolt-clamp.

It would be helpful to see a side view of the muffler inlet pipe. The original cross over pipe does have a bend in it similar to that in the photos. F

For a proper fit in the chassis the inlet and outlets of the muffler must be as follows when viewed from the rear of the muffler: with the muffler outlet pipe at 10 o'clock the muffler inlet pipe must be at 6 o'clock. That does not appear to be the case with the muffler in the photo.

This is out of a older MACs catalog the new catalog no longer lists the 33-40 pipes
Let us know what you find I could use a’34 cross over and exhaust pipe

I've ordered Waldron's Exhaust for the dual exhaust on my 38 truck with 39 pedals. It was fine. The shop that did it before did a great job around the steering box and pedals also

Depending on what you want, go with a local place and tell them what you want. Do your research on how you want it constructed. Most shops run about 500$, pretty close to a kit.

Just my thought. I'm sure things have changed and it'll be more money. But nothing has been better to me then local shops that do good work for everything I've needed (not just exhaust). Granted it may take some time to find one.
