Default 68C Cabriolet Door Pillar Screws

A few days ago the Ford Barn helped me out with information the special screws at the top of the door pillars. I have found them and here is the information on where to find them at the Bolt Depot.com, 100 Research Rd., Hingham, MA 02043:

#3633 Machine Screws, Slotted Oval Head, Stainless Steel 18-8, 1/4" - 20 x

2 1/2 in. @ $0.97

#3643 Machine Screws, Slotted Oval Head, Stainless Steel 18-8, 5/16" - 18 x 3 in.

They have very smooth heads but I plan to polish them with a buffer. Ed

The modern oval head screws are not quite right.

They are too thick. You need to be sure they have clearance for the use.

They do not look right. If you look at the originals they come down to a pointy edge. The new screws are rounded.

I chuck them up in a battery operated drill and use a file to reshape the heads close to factory. Then I use sandpaper to get the proper finish for the use. Some were polished so to I went to 1000 grit and buffed. The door post screws I left at like 400 so paint has something to stick to.
