Quwstion on the safety switch?

If the safety switch is installed so that the case of the switch touches the frame, does that create a ground and nullify the purpose of the switch?? I know it is a switch in the positive side (which is ground in the Mod A) but if it touches a ground , what happens electrically? Thanks in advance.

I would think they all have the case isolated from either terminal, but use an ohm meter to be sure.

Mine is fastened to the metal front of the seat riser of my '30 roadster.
There would be no need to have a cable in connection and a cable out connection in the battery ground cable (to frame/engine/or) if the switch , itself, was/is the ground, eh .

AND, the cables colors (red)for positive 'ground' in a stock 6v model a system is different than ground (black) in 12v system.

In other words, the circuitry inside the switch is isolated from the exterior case so having the case touch the frame is not a problem.

The case is electrically isolated / insulated from the conductor that is switched.

Question about these switches - I plan to mount it in the seat riser, when you guys punched holes in the under the seat pan for the cables did you use grommets or something so the body doesnt cut into the cables?

No 'punching'..the hole/space was hole by ford ,there to easily place the switch. This was ,as stated, a '30 roadster. You are making/breaking the ground cable ONLY, so no grommet necessary.

Only the mounting post of the switch is through the floor on the ones i install... the actual cables and connections to the switch are underneath.
