1950 F-1 Pickup Bed
I am in the process of rebuilding the bed on my '50 Pickup with the stamped steel bed floor. This is an early '50 with the raised areas in the side panels. After disassembling it appears that the headboard has been removed in the past and was held in place with a couple of different style fasteners. Where it attaches to the sideboards it looks like the rivets are original but there is a row of 'funky' looking rivets that fasten it to the turned up front edge of the floor. WHAT IS CORRECT?
The Mac's catalog says "to make your restoration perfect" you should install welting between the rear fenders and the bed sides. I don't think my fenders were ever removed before but there is no welting! Should there be? I am usually a Barn Find, drive it like it is guy but this is my everyday, 'do everything' truck and was badly in need of work. I want to do it right! Thanks for the help, Don |

Re: 1950 F-1 Pickup Bed
I have taken several of 48 thru 52 truck beds apart and have never seen evidence of welting, but since I mostly due 41 and earlier, I put welting on my 49 just my preference
