Mike: The thread you are looking for was started by Ken/Alabama on 9/2/21 and titled 6 volt bulbs. I hope this helps. I have some 1157's ordered myself, I think. Looking for numbers on dash lights now myself. Lawson

A 1940 Ford 6V LED Tail light bulb" search search will prove very helpful as there are many bulb options.

For instance, check this out:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/15331101208...RoCY9kQAvD_BwE
and
https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...RoC8XMQAvD_BwE

Could be, I waited a few weeks to get them but once I got them I was good with the wait. We’ll see how long they last.

That is what I am using in the taillights for my 53' Merc. Before I put them in, my wife said she could never tell if my tail lights or brake lights were on, when she followed me.

LED's are polarity sensitive, so you need to specify you're running positive earth when buying. There are some that are not polarity sensitive, but they must be specified.

I'm running LED's in the rear of my 41 (after seeing Merc Cuzers' vid- thank you Sir) and I can attest they are real attention getters.

Sorry this is not the best shot , but yes they are off set.

Here is the bulb:

Thought I would add a better picture, of the off set pins on the bulb, for clarity.

I have Red lenses with Blue Dots. Basically the output for these bulbs, is the same as an original headlight bulb.

I have always look at pictures as "they are worth a 1000 words" and should be self explanatory, and my original picture wasn't. So it is a better one for the file.

Well; back to square one. I need single contact tail light/brake light bulbs in my 35 PU, Unfortunately the numbers on the bulbs are illegible. I think the smaller one is a 63 and the larger one a 1073, but I'n mot sure about that. Can anyone give me the correct numbers for the bulbs I need so I can order LEDs. The set up on the 35 is a single contact with locking pins straight across from one another. One is larger for the brake light. One is smaller for the tag light.I unfortunately ordered dual contact bulbs, which are not what I need. I am slowly acquiring an unneeded collection of misc. LED bulbs.

NEVER MIND. I found both bulbs in LED. Larger one, cheap. Smaller one expensive. Go figger.

No mods, just plug and play.

Just curious, have you tried using jumper wires from the bulbs to a battery, out of the car?

I just looked back, and my purchase was 2 yeas ago. I just tried to call them and no answer for sales or support. I will try again tomorrow. I will post the response.

If you guys used PAY PAL get a refund through them.

It seems some people who buy these bulbs have success and others dont. Is it a quality control issue?

File off the offending lug, re-insert bulb and be on your way. Works every time.

I just got off the phone with David at ledlight, and the bulbs are warranted for one year. If there is an issue just call him: 1 (602) 997-0366

He did mention that the offset pin bulbs are BAY15D Product Code: 64854

Hmmm...does not compute. I don't see where adding series resistance would work. The LEDs that I got are super bright when tested directly at the 6 volt battery on my '41 but are dim when installed in the brake light socket.
Have not tried running a direct wire ground back to the tail/brake light housing yet but I anticipate that would be a solution for max lumens. The other thought I had is perhaps the hydraulic brake switch has high resistance.

Not sure if your taillight lenses are glass or plastic. The 50/14 cp could be a bit too warm a plastic lens, if they are on for an extend period of time. That having been said, that is what I used before I got the LED's

ledlight's response, is very interesting, since I bought my led bulbs from them and they work perfectly, without any "load equalizers"!

I wonder if the load equalizer is not just the extra load you need to make a regular signal flasher work as the leds do not have enough draw to make a standard flasher work.

Did you try to hook them up to a battery, directly to see if they worked? Just wondering, if it is the bulb, or the socket?

The load resistor, is only a turn signal issue, not a basic function issue.

I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and they wont be here until mid-October !! From China of course. You'd think these guys would stock "some" of them here. I'll advise if they are any good when I finally get them.
