trunk lock 51 Merc
Is there any way I can fix my trunk lock where I can take the key out in the open position so I can leave my trunk unlocked?

Re: trunk lock 51 Merc
Don't have a trunk lock any more but as I recall, turn the key counter clockwise then remove it. (and if that doesn't work turn the key clockwise then remove it)

Re: trunk lock 51 Merc
Few cars have a trunk that can be latched in the open position. The glove box has a different type latch even though it uses the same key but it was common for a glove box to have an open latch in that era.
You can modify the lock by removal of the lock cylinder but then it won't be lockable in that case unless you reinstall the lock cylinder. If you take the tumblers out then you will have to carry the key or a screw driver to open and close the lock mechanism but it still won't really be locked. |
