Stock wire harness or an aftermarket (or home grown) harness?

Seems like you might have to reposition 2 wires on the switch. Check the wiring diagram. The 1940 diagram is below. Is 1941 the same? Hope this helps. Perhaps someone will post the 41 diagram. Click on Mr. Van Pelts's" 1941 Ford diagram.

Not sure how you can reverse high and low beams on a foot switch?

I think what everyone above is saying is that your recent wiring of the headlight switch doesn't explain this problem. Only one wire leaves the headlight switch to feed both high and low beams. Problem must be elsewhere, something mis-wired in the past.

Because its easy to get to I would look at the inside of the fenders where two wires connect into each headlight loom. Would have been easy to transpose those two wires, and easy for you to correct that now.

I tried swapping wires with no effect on the dip switch. The centre wire is power and the wire on either side is low ,high beam. Swapping those around had no effect.

Deucekoop……….With a whole lotta respect Sir, you can't honestly expect an accurate or realistic answer for your original question without a fully-organized and complete explanation of your problem. Likewise, your "one-word" follow-up replies to our repeated requests for more-detailed symptoms doesn't help matters. Actually, trying to follow YOUR path of communication through this thread was nothing but frustrating for me. Please try to think-out your requests with complete, detailed info in the future, because there ARE quite a few fairly knowledgeable folks here just dyin' to help you (and others) with requests for info or answers. Please, help us to help you. DD

It looks like the green & white wire from indicator light hooks the the black & green high beam wire at the left headlight. Maybe you have it hooked to the black & red low beam wire.

Is it just the switch you changed, or did you also change the loom connections at the front of the car?

The high beam indicator lamp is connected to the power feed to the high beam, which is selected by the foot switch. At least this is how it is on my 41 Convert.

What you describe cannot happen at just the headlight switch - at least with a stock loom.
