Default Shipping Los Angeles to London

What is the best way to ship something from Los Angeles to London? I have a 10X10X10 cardboard box of car parts that weighs 12.5 pounds and is worth $30. I just did a little pricing and the results were: FEDEX $222.56, UPS $224.79 , and the USPS $83.10. These charges do not include any taxes that might be added by the English government. Are there other shipping options I should check out?

The USPS sounds like a bargain to me.....at $ 30 it should not attract tax/duty.

When you use U.S.Postal there is a little paper work to fill out for international shipments It's a little intimidating as 1st but do just 1 line at a time and it aint to bad.
Also the flat rate box works for international shipping also But there is a 35# weight limit.

Several years ago I shipped some O/T gauges from a MGTD to the UK for rebuilding. Sent them in a flat rate USPS box and listed it as a gift since they were going to be returned to me after repair. No issues and not that expensive as I remember.

Bill,

Thanks for the tip on the flat rate box. The international box size I need is $59.95 (domestic is $12.35) so at least the price is going in the right direction.

Just sent a one pound item to Sweden, marked it gift, it was, and sent it USPS for $18.60. Got confirmation from recipient two days ago that it was received.

I sell a lot of part's and send everything intrernational USPS, it is the most cost affective way.

I have had good luck with it so far.
