There just isn't much room up front for one, but adding counterweights to the crankshaft should be a big help.

I have a harmonic balancer on my flywheel from Ron Kelley. It's also counter balanced. No vibrations from the engine.

A big block Chev fits with minor machine work.
You have to notch the cross member to use it.

Jim Gordon reproduces the Winfield vibration damper. Try Specialty Ford parts Garvey ave. , Rosemead CA. I don't believe that this product needs any machine work and is ready to use.

This gentleman's, (Mr. Ron Kelley's), vast & rare Model A/B engine performance advice is always based on pure facts derived from his past experience & detailed testing with "calibrated" dynamometers & "calibrated" testing equipment.

He does excellent work.

Forgive me, but how does this relate to the question the original poster asked.

Does anyone have a e-mail contact for Jim Gordon the 1 I have gets no reply
I was able to contact him about a year ago regarding harmonic balancer was informed they were out of production but would let me know when production started
I was hoping that had happened or someone had found 1 very simular from the many in production I have searched and always fall short in 1 measurement or other

Try 426-280-4546 This is the Specialty Ford parts store number. I haven't talked to Jim in a while but this number should work

I could ask the same to you. But I just simply wanted to share my experience with the harmonic balancer in the flywheel.

And I would answer that your comment has nothing to do with what he asked! He asked about one for the front of the engine. The one you have is for the rear. He asked about one only requiring minor machine work. Yours does not. He wants one that works, ...yours does not!

I have made one, a fluid damper, out of one for a sbc. It used a modified Model B front motor mount, and a pulley that used a 1/2 wide belt. We did not have to cut the front crossmember. This went into a speedster with an alternator and an electric water pump. The trick is to find one small enough to start with, as the diameter and the width are kinda tight.

True dat!

The cause:

Below, graphed, you can see that the severity of rotational deviation
is greater as you move forward from the flywheel mass.
This is why a damper is placed at the FRONT of the crank:

Anyone who claims they can prevent this by adding dampening
at the flywheel end is a good snake-oil salesman.

Anyone who claims they can feel smoother running in the seat of their pants
from addition of any "harmonic" device is simply describing improved
primary balance after rebuild. The harmonic torsional flex of the crank
cannot be felt while driving. It is not an 'out-of-balance' condition.

I used a Fluid Damper (trade name) on 2 engines I built.
You can tell they really work because they get quite warm after driving for awhile.
Mike and Brent are absolutely right. A damper on the back does nothing but make your wallet thinner.

Thanks for all the info guys as I said at the start I want a balancer for the front as the flywheel works well at the rear I have already broken 1 crankshaft
I have a Chev balancer the smallest 1 6.25 inch mounted on the engine and will reluctantly trim the cross member but can not find a pulley that lines up with water pump pulley in 5/8 or 1/2 inch closest is 3/8 forward
what pulley are you guys using

I used a 3/8 wide belt riding in a Moroso pulley that bolted onto the front of the dampner. This placed the belt too far forward to line up with the alternator, so I used a double groove pulley off of an old Riviera, and used the front groove. It works cause the speedster uses an electric fan and water pump.
