Default Rear axel

What tool fits the two drain plugs on the rear-end?

I have not looked at mine for a while but believe that a 3/8” drive fits.

They are the same plugs that old time plumbers used.

There was a special combination tool available that would fit the different size square holes in drain plugs that most service stations had however, as other previously have stated, for the Fords, a 3/8 breaker bar works just fine.

a 3/8 breaker bar will work , although it is a sloppy fit. If the square gets rounded off and it's real tight you may not get it out. If you want to keep that plug hole square buy a piece of "key stock" at a bearing house that measures 7/16" square. This is a very stock item and you can buy a small section and cut it up and give it to your friends as a present. Either grip it with a 7/16" wrench or better yet weld a hex nut on the end of it and use a socket on it

Thanks, you have all been a good help. I have a 1929 45A coupe, a lot of original stuff on it. I always seen 3/8 on both plugs but on this coupe 3/8 just catches but slips when I apply pressure, looks like it is 7/16.
