Shock rebuild
Does anyone know of someone rebuilding Houdaille Shock Absorbers in Australia or New Zealand?
I have located a NOS right rear for my '36' Colonial pickup, but need an old core rebuilt. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Shock rebuild
Fe26, have you talked to other members of the EFV-8C/A in AU & NZ about where they have their shocks rebuilt? There may be a counterpart like our Bill Wzorek down under.

Re: Shock rebuild
Can you post it on here if you find someone. I heard of a retired engineer in Launceston but don't know a name, still trying to find out myself.

Re: Shock rebuild
Someone posted on here that they were disappointed with the 'new' shocks and had their old ones re-built by Bill.

Re: Shock rebuild
I bought reproduction shocks for a '35 Ford from M&S Hydraulics and they went bad in no time. Find out who Mac's gets them from. If they are coming from M&S I wouldn't buy them. Best bet is to find good original cores and have those rebuilt by a good rebuilder. In the states that would be Bill Wzorek or Apple Hydraulics. IMO

Re: Shock rebuild
There is a site which will give you an insight into the whys and wherefores check this out;
www.oldcarmanualproject.com enter haudaille in the search box and there is a manual on the shocks rebuild. Also there is a chap in NZ who advertises in their V8 mag who rebuilds them. I searched my notes but cant find it .When I do I will post it. I did my own up with a few orings and lotsa swearing! |

Re: Shock rebuild
The chap you are thinking of in NZ was Paul Drader he helped with mine just before Xmas but sadly passed away over the break he showed me the ins and outs and they are time consuming!!
