Default A new Ford in my future

I've got an airplane ticket to go look see 2nd week in January this 36 Woodie survivor with all original wood. I suspect it's spent it's life in Cape Cod at a summer home. Alas, I had to agree to sell the newly painted 29 roadster and E28 open cab pickup in the spring. I do have space for 5 antique cars in my garage, but this is hobby getting ridiculous for me as I already have the 2 As and a 63 corvette verte. I told she who must be obeyed the 36 would cost what the 2 As are worth, only fibbing a little. First projects will be chrome for the bumpers, hydraulic brakes and moving my Mitchell OD and 39 transmission from the E28 PU to the woodie.

What a great find! And, what a great sacrifice! But I admire you, its hard to let those old friends go.

Wow! What a great find. If that woodie is all original I'm sure the EFV8 Club guys and other woodie collectors would love to see that vehicle before you make any changes.
You may already know this but I'll mention anyway. The later gears ('39-'48) will drop right in that original '36 transmission case but you need to use a '39 top (or do what MacVP said). This would allow you to keep the serialized case with the vehicle. Also, if you convert to hydraulics, Richard Lacy makes a bolt on kit for the master cylinder, that uses the stock brake/clutch pedal assembly. Good luck and have fun with that beautiful find!

Beauty of a car! Could I just throw out a lonely vote for preserving this ole boy, instead of modifying it?
Congratulations and "good find", which ever way you go...slim

Technically he can use the orig 36 shifter housing (and the 36 lever) but he'd have to replace the 2/3 fork with the 91A fork to work with the late synchro.

I think you have to cut the floor for the Mitchell, don't you? That'd be a shame on such an original car, thought about a Columbia?
