Newbie
Hi - I am new to this forum. I have just purchased my first Model A and look forward to being a part of your forum. I purchased a 1930 Pickup and it is not running at the present time. I am sure I will have a lot of questions as I know little about the Model A's.

Re: Newbie
welcome. I see you're in Temecula...there are quite a few A'ers there. Go to a club meeting and you'll find neighbors willing to help out, locate parts, introduce you to others who can help and share some good times.

Re: Newbie
Welcome Bob and ask away!! I have had my Model A for about 5 years and have about 2500 hours on it, but I still ask many questions on this forum and continually learn from the answers I get.

Re: Newbie
Welcome Bob,
from the far east (Virginia) I am also a newbie about 7 months owning an "A" A lot can be learned from these guys. The great part is everybody is into different parts or phase's of keeping these cars and trucks running, touring and sometimes just showing (trailer queens) If you think your going to ask a really dumb question that people will think is ridiculous, before you post it do a search on the forum and the question already probably has been asked and many answers will follow it. I read about 20-30 posts a day and have picked up lots from this great group of loyal guys and gals. Good luck, we are here if and when you need help. A-Jay |

Re: Newbie
Welcome to the wonderful world of A's! Best thing to do is join your local Model A club, be it a MARC Region or MAFCA Chapter. There is a wealth of knowledge in the membership.

Re: Newbie
Welcome to The Barn. I recommend that you buy Les Andrew's Model A repair manuals, The MARC/MAFCA restoration/judging standards, and the Model A service bulletins. These books will answer most of your questions. I hope you'll post often.

Re: Newbie
Welcome Bob,
Definitely get the books Glenn recommended plus order catalogs from the various parts vendors, they're free and help you become familiar with the names of various parts and how they go together. I'd also like to add there is a series of books titled How to Restore your Model A which were extremely helpful to me, Les's books are very informative and I consult them often but he uses drawings to ilustrate the text where as the other books use photos, for me sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words. The books combined with the knowledgable people on the Barn should take care of most any questions that may come up. Ted |

Re: Newbie
Thanks for the reccomendations about the manuals I should purchase. I have ordered several catalogs and I expect delivery of the Les Andrews Volume I Manual today. I also have a manual that came with the vehicle entitled "Restorer's Model A Shop Manual".
Thanks for the warm welcome to your forum. I am sure I will have a lot of questions as I progress with the restoration. Thanks Bob |

Re: Newbie
Welcome Bob, you have entered into a hobby that is full of great people. I see that you were given the local club info, that is always a great place to start. Next March is the Orange County Model A club pancake breakfast. They usually have over 300 Model As attending. It is a great time and a good place to see a lot of cars and meet a lot of people.
