Default Lebonney Baron question

One of our customers called LB about some tech questions on installing interior parts in a 28 2Dr. Apparently the main tech man has retired. The young individual on the phone apparently had no idea what to tell the customer, and was rather rude and short. The parts had been made by LB, but were not fitting at all. Anyone had any problems or concerns with LB as of late?? They have been great in the past.

Thanks!!

What do you need Bob? Maybe we can help.

(BTW; A lot of people have changed at L/B in the past few years including the ownership.)

Let me also add that incorrectly cut/installed wood has a great influence on how panels fit. Also, do not be afraid to template out the vehicle and peel back the fabric where alterations to the panel can be made. Then re-glue the fabric to the panel and install.

I'm pretty sure I had a short, unpleasant conversation with that young man a couple weeks ago. It did not reinforce any good vibes I had for a company that I've spent a lot of Model A bucks with in the past ten years.
Not to be political, but I would have fired him.
I miss Elizabeth.

Note that my beef was with the kid that answered the phone. He was not a good envoy for L-B and should not have been allowed to talk to customers. Since that telephone conversation earlier this summer, I have ordered from L-B. Thanks Goodness, I didn't talk to the kid again. I did receive the kick panels I ordered in a very reasonable time. I am quite satisfied with L-B's products.

To reinforce the earlier comments, I called LB this week to get a missing page that they left out of their roadster top install instructions. I also received a not so warm response. It was quite a simple request, I only needed them to provide the page that they left out but the salesperson who answered the phone seemed put out a bit at having to deal with my request.

By the way, he identified himself and he is one of the three salespeople listed on their website.

Save your bread and butter money folks. You may be able to buy an upholstery supplier at a bargain. At this rate it won't be long before LB begins losing enough business to cause them to go out of business.

To put it into perspective, think of the reception and service you get from Bert's and compare that to LB.

Yep, completely agree. Some companies just don't seem to figure that out though. Our local Walmart seems to come to mind for some reason, maybe its because I'm getting of wrestling someone to the ground to get any service.

I have purchased three interior kits and 1 Cabriolet top from LaBarron Bonney. I installed all of them myself except the convertible top. The instructions were complete but they looked like copies.
I am not a upholstery expert and I found that if you take your time it should go well. I had the convertible top done by one of their recommended installers located in Sterling Heights , Michigan.
I felt the product was excellent and most original unless you have Bill Sturm or another Model A Expert do the job.
The first car was a 4 door Briggs , The second one was a 1930 tu door , the third one was a 1930 Cabriolet that I entered into fine point judging and did quite well.
I was going past Amesbury , Mass two weeks ago and stopped at the Labaron Bonney plant and there were two women that have been with the company for a very long time that were very helpful. I would strongly recomment them anytime. One person does not make a company so you might have to ask for someone that owns the company if you have a problem. Norm

for that matter, has any one used Cartouche lately? I had a car with their kit some years back which looked good but the door panels were a little overpadded causing the cranks to wear into the material.

I sent some door sills back to them and had to go to my credit card for the refund. I'll let Chase deal with them. I guess customer service is not what it use to be

It looks to me like you knew exactly who Lebonney Baron is.

It is a bummer to hear this about Lebonney Baron. I have always thought they set the bar for interiors.

I asked the question in post #8.

The post you quoted was not my post, it was posted by ronn in post #17.

Are you replying to me, or to ronn?

Interesting. I called for a sample card two weeks ago, and the fella I talked to was impatient, to say it kindly. I told him I needed to replace a moth-damaged panel, but wanted a current sample to see if the new fabric would match the old. He wanted to know when I bought the kit. When I told him 1979, he seemed a little lost as to how to repond to that. But we did get it straightened put, and the sample arrived in three days. BTW, the fabric matched.
