30 cab metal ws cover

There is a metal cover over the top of the metal piece connecting the ws posts.
is it removable?

Are you referring to the sun shield over the windshield. Yes it's removable.
With the top material off, it is nailed from the top into the front header wood. There are also screws into the windshield posts, which should be visible.

This sketch is the best I've seen for depicting what goes where. Unfortunately it does not show the angle iron shelf which is situated behind the header and between the header and the cover plate
