Default 39 master cyl

Is there anything that holds the brake pedal push rod in the master cyl. I am replacing the master cylinder. Pulled like crazy cant get it to come out. I know some new ones have a clip that holds rod in not sure about this one. don't see anything on parts brake down. Thanks Doug

should not be any clip, is the master cylinder/rod out of the car?, if so pull the boot off and look inside if not just pull harder to see if it is the rod or the boot holding it in. just did a 39 coupe without too many problems

As I recall; there is a wide snap ring on the rod, and no way to get at it. I used a lots of thin lube, and a strong 'wiggle' pull to jerk the rod out. Newc

It is still in the car. I have it unbolted but the pin that holds the push rod to the pedal is froze up so figured I could just pull MC out of way to get more room to work on that pin. I Have pulled hard. Ill see if I can get a jimmy bar up in there and get some leverage.
