Model A History Resources

I have recently been "promoted" to director of our local club. I am looking for ways to add some substance to our monthly meetings. I thought a five to ten minute history lesson on Model A's, Henry Ford, manufacturing plants, etc. would be a interesting addition. Where might I find some resources for some little known facts about the Model A era to share with our membership?

IMHO, the Service Bulletins & the Judging Stds are your best friend in this regard. Do a comparison of parts. Also, many other books written about him by his employees and his methods.

Extremely hard to find 'little known facts' about the Ford Model A, Henry Ford and the Ford manufacturing. More is known about this model, its production and its maker - than any other machine in history.

But for 10 to 15 minutes of 'Over view' just about ANY book or article about Henry Ford and his (Edsel's) Model A, will do.

You could tell, for example, how the Model A was meant to be a temporary 'band aid' to hold 'market share' while the end of the 19 year run of the Model T was replaced by the Ford V-8, which was not quite ready when the "T" production ended. The Model A was never meant to replace the Model T. The V-8 was meant to replace the Model T - it just was not quite ready and had to have a few more years to 'work out the bugs' of the revolutionary V-8 engine.

For the short time allotted (10 minutes) you really only have time for one topic/subject. As has been suggested earlier - a quick GOOGLE SEARCH will be the easiest and quickest.

I along with Steve Plucker and others have been researching FOMOCO and Henry for some 52 years. Many of the suggestions above or very good, such as google for short topics. Google Henry Ford or Model A Ford and you will be amazed. I personally research the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plants (all over the internet) and am amazed to learn something new almost every time.
