Default Lemay Museum, Tacoma WA

Spent the day there yesterday. Well worth the effort to get there! Just a few shots I took while there.

We'll see that next year at the MAFCA National in Puyallup. Looking forward to it!

OK all you judges. Do you see anything questionable besides the script bumper clamps and missing center clamp?

I went through the Museum when I was up there for Steve and Judy Hamilton's 50th Anniversary. It was AWESOME. I wish they had provided more information on some of the cars. There was some provided on certain vehicles but a lot of them had little or nothing.

If you would have let me know, I could have come in and introduced you to the watering hole where Willy and I hang out.
How long are you in town?

I'm looking forward to seeing the LeMay Museum in July also, to see how it compares to the Gilmore and and the New Model A Museum. I live about 26 miles from the Gilmore, and I'll be driving my 1930 Townsedan all the way from Michigan to Puyallup to the convention.

I lived in Tacoma for about 15 years, and another 15 in Renton, so the area is familiar, well as familiar as it could be after having been away for 20 years now. Harold LeMay was my "garbage collector" back then, so I feel I have "part ownership" in his cars there! Not a lot of Model A's there, but just a lot of amazing cars. Not all restored to factory fresh. The day I was there, they had a couple of DeLorian's, and even a Tucker, #7 off the assembly line! I am only in the area for a week, but that was a "must see" on my list. And next time I'm in the area I'll be back. They promise a different set of cars next time. They have more cars than they have space for.

If you can arrange it, try to visit some time when the Lemay Marymount collection is open. Much bigger.

Saw the museum this summer, and as my grandchildren would say "Awesome"! The building is new, build like a parking garage with four levels and ramps going up and down. Every floor and ramps covered with vehicles arranged for good viewing and walking.. From what the museum staff told us at the museum, it is only a part of the Lemay collection of vehicles(about 3500). Think the total number of vehicles on display is about 850 and not all are Lemay's as other peoples are also included. Well worth the time.

I too am looking forward to seeing both the Lemay Museum and the Lemay Marymount collection while at the MAFCA National in Puyallup this coming July. I plan on bringing my Martin-Parry Station Wagon. It should be a lot of fun.
