1938 Hood bolt Installation
Restoring a 1938 Woodie. Just putting the hood on now after a couple of years of fooling around.
I've got a new set of hood bolts c/w flat spring washers and safety wire. Do the spring washers go between the hood and the arm, or are they directly under the bolt head? I'm thinking between the hood and arm. |

Re: 1938 Hood bolt Installation
They should be put in between all joints that swivel as the hood is raised and lowered This allows the linkage to move as the hood is open and closed. Installing a hood is always an adventure to get it into the correct position in reference to the cowl, front fenders, and grill. Install the joint bolts loosely, and tighten them only when the desired fit is found. Having a helper to move the hood up and down while you look at the fit is a good idea.
