Borg Warner Coupling Needed (BADLY)
I have posted on this topic before but I now have more information. I have a Borg Warner R10 overdrive set up in the torque tube for a model A. Unfortunately a coupler is missing and the OD is worthless without it. Apparently what was done was that the the slip part of the slip yoke (yoke was cut off) 16 spline Ford 3 speed transmission (the OD pattern is the same) welded to a stock 6 spline V8 coupling. This coupling attaches the overdrive to the differential, there is no actual driveshaft between the OD and the differential. Somebody made quite a few of these (rumored to be Lloyd in Ohio) (Not Bert In Vancouver Washington, his are done differently), and there has to be some of these couplings kicking around in folks stash of parts. I know that now that I know how the part was made but the cost of the parts is close to $200 and then I have to have it welded. It’s just not worth it.

Hey, Jeep guy. It would probably help if you listed the general area of the city and state you live in. There may be somebody within a few blocks of you that has exactly what you are looking for. It can't hurt.

Re: Borg Warner Coupling Needed (BADLY)
This thread has one for a later V8 application that was done by Lloyd Young. Someone mentions that the unit is from a Rambler. It has photos though. I wonder if it resembles the subject model A set up.
https://fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=169773 A photo is worth a 1000 or more words. One photo in the link shows a T86 transmission with R10 OD. This link is a Rentz unit repaired by Lloyd Young. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74761 Last edited by rotorwrench; 03-14-2023 at 10:18 AM. |

200 bucks is a pretty cheap part in todays world, and I am as frugal as they come. I would buy a new coupling from VanPelts , find a yoke at the junk yard, and get a competent welder to glue it together so you can proceed on to the next dilemma.

that picture definitely shows the set up I have. Does anybody know if anybody got Lloyd’s inventory?
