Given the Model A is closer to a carriage than today's cars, he should be treated like a horse thief.

From his photo, the thief looks like a real prize specimen.

Unfortunately, he's just one of the many goofballs that can been seen in central Or - NoCal. I have relatives in Bend, and see a lot of that type walking around. Must be the ideal climate for growing high potency weed.

I second the motion - treat him like a horse thief. Or at least put him in the stocks for a couple days.

Hmmm? I noticed a charge of criminal mischief; nothing about car theft? Maybe unauthorized use of a motor vehicle means theft? He must have some experience where Model A's are concerned. Looking at his picture I would have to think that the owner better have a good insurance policy, as this guy appears to have nothing tangible worth much, at least that is the impression I get. Any body up for a lynching? There must be a way to make this guy pay the owner personally for the damages.

Other stories I have seen on this say that the guy who stole it was homeless. The horns make me think that it wasn't a perfectly restored car but it still makes me mad that someone has that little regard for someone else's property. How did he do it? Were the keys in it?

I'm surprised that clown could even figure out how to operate it.

Usually unauthorized use instead of theft means the owner knew the criminal and was unwilling to press theft charges. The unauthorized use allows the insurance to kick in.
Hopefully they firehose him so he does not stink up the jail for the other criminals.

Not everyone owns or wants to own a "Fine Point" Model A, car theft is car theft no matter what the value is. Bob

Later story says the owner is a 79-year-old fellow who had taken it to church to show it off. When he went out for lunch the POS stole it. No clarification on how he got it started.

Well now he has a home, and 3 meals a day, healthcare, TV and other things he never had on the street when homeless.
