Default Re: Frame VIN

I have seen those on eBay and I have considered getting one.

My car has already passed muster with registration when I recently bought the car so for now, anyway, I am in the clear. Mine is based entirely on the engine number. However, if someone ever wanted to challenge it, I would hate to have to take the body off the frame just to prove it one way or the other. Worse yet, what if it didn't match, but I have no reason to believe it wouldn't.

I presume that having an official looking number plate is no more official from the standpoint of the VIN police than just writing the number with a felt-tip pen on the firewall. But they look nice.
