Re: flywheel weight
You determine the flywheel weight by placing it on the scale. I am sure that was not the answer you wanted, now what is the real quesion?

Re: flywheel weight
Looking for information on how to modify the weight of my 59A Flywheel. Can't find a machine shop in the Tampa, Fl area that will lighten it.Willig to ship to a reasonable distance. Sorry but did not complete my post.

Re: flywheel weight
You can turn them down to 20-22lbs safely, it really perks an old flattie up.

Re: flywheel weight
Took a couple into an old hotrodder's driveshaft shop here in San Antonio. He jigged them up and went to cutting. Cost me $75 for the two about a year ago. It is hard to find someone old school that understands what you want done. A lot of machine shops I went to said that they did not have a lathe big enough to swing it and so it would have to be done on a mill. Another told me that it would set up a harmonic imbalance when being turned because the bell being cut off would not be supported. My old school guy just chucked it up and did it.
Might look at Speedway catalog. I think that they are offering a steel one now for the 59A. More expensive than what I did, but might save you from chasing around looking for an old schooler. |
