Muffler Shield Device
I heard, but never saw one. Does any one know of an animal like this ?Something that clamps onto the upper side of the muffler - between it and the floor board.

Re: Muffler Shield Device
dlfrisch: if you are looking to purchase one of these heat shields to keep the temperature down in the interior of your car............don't waste your money. I tried one this summer and ended up throwing it in the garbage. It might lower the temperature slightly, if at all. A follow club member had the same issue with high temperatures inside the car and he solved it by adding DynaMat Extreme(2 layers) to the floorboards and it worked great. I purchased the four piece door kit(4-12x36 sheets) for around $50.00 and it covered my floorboards in two layers. On a hot day of driving, my floorboards are cool to the touch. My wife is really happy because her feet don't get hot anymore...............

Re: Muffler Shield Device
I made one by copying the commercial style, which was fun, but it didn’t seem to make much difference, so I tossed it.

Re: Muffler Shield Device
This works well. Nail some aluminum sheet metal flashing to the bottom of the floor boards.

Re: Muffler Shield Device
I’d be tempted to put in spacers to give an air gap above the sheet metal. In fact, I might go farther than temptation!

Re: Muffler Shield Device
Guys, the DynaMat Extreme added to the top of the floorboards is the way to go. Re-read my previous post

Re: Muffler Shield Device
Thanks for the reply. I stapled noise reducers (black vinyl/rubber) sheets on the under side of the floor boards, plus new rubber back carpet. Seems A OK, but I thought a muffler shield would be an added attraction to reduce heat . I’m a NY Saratogian now in hot Florida.

Re: Muffler Shield Device
I created the original Kool Feet insulated muffler shield which took over a year to design and finalize the product. This is the only shield that has a special insulation used in NASCAR sandwiched between 21 gauge galvanized metal. Brackets are 1/8inch zinc plated steel. Muffler clamps have a knurled nut so as to keep the nut from loosening. Go to the Aries muffler shield site where you will read the description of how I achieved 72 degrees of heat reduction. To record the temperatures you will see that I used a laser heat gun to record the difference at the largest part of the muffle to achieve that result. The shield is heavy duty construction and will get the job done. It installs in 11 minutes with your eyes closed. It installs between the floorboard and sit above the muffler so air can draw the heat out the rear. It has been installed in right hand drive, 5 speed transmissions, float a motor mounts and adjusts for clearance under the brake cross shaft IF it is in the factory position. Rear tailpipe bracket must be in original position under car. Build in the good ole USA. My original shield has been in my car for 15 years and always does the job it was designed for. I have never raised the price of $79.95 and you pay shipping. Sold lots of these never had a return. Les Andrews wife ordered one for his personal car and others before a hot summer trip...

I find it interesting that with the Aries muffler the temperatures were 330° and 207° and with the "original" muffler the temperatures were 394° and 289°. Are the Aries temperatures so much lower because it flows better? That's quite a difference, 64° and 82°.

Re: Muffler Shield Device
I installed one and saw no difference whatsoever. In my opinion a waste of money and time spent to install.
