Default Front Bumper Grommets

The front bumper grommets for 1940 Ford Fordor. One side of the grommet is wider. Does the wide side go toward the inside or outside?

If you are talking about the bracket grommet, as I recall they are installed from the outside with the appropriate side facing out.

On a 40 coupe the front has the wide side to the inside.
On the rear the wide side is toward the outside.
I would think the same is for a 4 door as the fenders are the same.
