Removing 1930 front fenders
I need to remove my front fenders to do a frame repair on my 30 coupe. I already have the hood, rad, engine, radiator apron removed. What’s the procedure to remove them? Do I have to loosen all the body bolts or can I just loosen the front under the cowl that mount them?

Re: Removing 1930 front fenders
Just remove the fasteners that hold the fenders.

Re: Removing 1930 front fenders
I have found it easier if you loosen the fender bracket to frame bolts. Otherwise it's hard to remove the headlight bar to fender brace bolts.

Re: Removing 1930 front fenders
You guys are missing the point where he said he is working on a 1930. Remember the 1930 fender uses a two-piece apron that will require the body to be lifted slightly in the front to get the fender out from underneath the body.

Re: Removing 1930 front fenders
While you need to jack up the body slightly, you should remove the steering column bracket to the gas tank. Doesn't take much to get a gasoline leak.

There will be four bolts that will need loosen and removed ,one one each side at front of cowl and 3 on each side near outside of floor boards the body to frame webbing may also need changed it’s about $20. for a roll and has to be cut to fit.

Re: Removing 1930 front fenders
Thanks for the replies! Where is the best place to jack up the front of the body?

I did it right by the engine mount. Just takes a little.

Re: Removing 1930 front fenders
I finally removed all the bolts, I didn’t see where to remove the one with the yellow arrow. Is this necessary to remove the fenders? Also do I need to remove the rear fenders to jack up the front of the body or is it not required? Still not to sure where it was suggested to lift the front of the body with a 2x4, I assume like I have pictured. Probably making this out to be harder than it is but I don’t want to screw anything up.

Re: Removing 1930 front fenders
I think I just put a board vertically just inside the frame. You just need 1/32in clearance. This does not involve anything in the rear.

Re: Removing 1930 front fenders
Get a friend to give the body a slight boost and remove the fender.

Re: Removing 1930 front fenders
Hello again, if I remember correctly, that bolt is attached to a bracket on outer edge of frame.
