Fumaze oil breather

Can someone send me a picture of a Fumaze in stalled on their car. I'm getting a little blow by. I have a after market one, and I've tried to install it but the down draft tube rest against the radiator supply pipe. Is that right? And is there a bracket for the down draft tube? I'm just trying to keep the starter and everything else clean.

I'm using one of these K&N style caps and it works quite well. Not too authentic looking though.

The Fumaze does have a bracket attaching it to the return pipe.

Can the Fumaze be used with the engine side pans installed?

My spare engine came with a flex tube to divert the fume down and out, so side pans are no problem.

I was told here it works better with the engine pans on.

Yes, you can use the Fumaze with the pans installed. I have them in my 31 Roadster.

Yes, it's the real thing. Picture taken at the shop of a friend who built an entire Curtiss Jenny over a period of seven or eight years. Brian Karli has more energy than anyone I ever met and is a superb craftsman.

It was photo shopped to remove the serial number and reduced in size to fit the panel of a 1/6th scale Jenny I built a number of years ago.

Works on my coupe, but leaves a lot of oil deposits on the pan, which I wipe off periodically as necessary.

Actually, it is a K&N style element, not made by them. I don't have the box anymore, but it is like this one sold by Holley:

It just pushes into the oil filler pipe and is held in place by the rubber seal. I got mine from O'Reilly Auto Parts. I have a few hundred miles on it so far and it has been fine. The left side of the engine is dry and there has been no apparent increase in crank seal leakage. No dirt inside the filler pipe either.

FWIW: One (1) Solution To Eliminate Vintage Engine Blow-By Fumes

In 1932 my Uncle, (born 1905), bought a "totaled" 1932 Model B Ford truck with about 200 miles on it after a first-time-driver had a severe encounter with a huge live oak tree.

In his boat that he built in 1925, he installed this brand new 1932 Model B engine in this boat. (We still have this boat ..... I'm still using the carburetor and distributor from this engine on my 1930 Model A Town Sedan).

The Model B engine was placed as far forward as possible to maintain as much forward "parallel to water level" propeller force as possible for races.

Longitudinal upholstered bench seats with backs were provided on both sides and rear near boat transom thus forming a "U" behind the engine.

Because of no firewall, even though not seen, one could inhale and smell the obnoxious blow-by exiting the oil filler tube when traveling and sitting in the rear of the boat.

He next capped the end of the oil filler tube with a modified oil filler cap to prevent blow-by from exiting at this location.

Then he provided a 1/2" copper tube silver-soldered from the front side of the oil filler tube, routed it around the front of the Model B engine, and allowed it to return rearward and be attached and sealed to the out-side of the Model B Ford metal air maze accessory which was used on the carburetor to attach a flame arrestor.

When the engine was running, "all' of the crankcase fumes were inhaled by the carburetor intake, sent to the combustion chamber, and "all" fumes exited out of the rear of the tail pipe behind the passengers.

Note: This was 1932 ...... before PCV valves were even imagined.

I could write a lengthy book about what I learned in life about mechanics and construction just from this one Uncle.
