what is the difference between large and small tank radiators?

The large ones were Jan-March and the smaller ones were April-Dec. Pictures are shown in the 35-36 ford book. However you can look at http://www.thebrassworks.net/shop/Re...afddabcc81977b
and get the idea. They are not perfect recreations but you get the idea. |

Well, interesting in that 36 Fords had a large tank [larger than 35]. I would interpret that to mean the large tank has an advantage....[holds more coolant] Actually, in my 35, I run a 36 top tank adapted to fit. Never overheats.

My 2 cents is that the size of the top tank is less relevant to cooling efficiency than the entire system and how it integrates for cooling - i.e. cleanliness of block passages, efficiency/condition of the water pumps, thermostat selection, radiator condition, fan set up etc. I run a small tank in my April 35 Coupe with no cooling issues even with 284 cu and a blower.
