Default 50 versus 51 F-1 hoods

Can I use a 50 F-1 hood on my 51 F-1 pickup ? will they directly innerchange or do i need to do modifications ? Thanks Tom

Been to many years but the appearance of the 2 years is different. Believe the hood latch is different. Have been involved with an entire frontend swap and that worked. Might try Ford Truck Enthusiast.

Yes they will interchange but the latch system is completely different between 48/50 and 51/52.
You have several options to make this work. You can modify the hood or modify the truck or do a little of both.
There's many ways you make it work if you have the parts.

The short answer is yes they do fit but the latch system has to be modified.

You could just modify the hood, remove the 50 mechanism and replace with the '51 mechanism. You could also weld up the latch holes. The '50 does have sculpted sides that the '51s and 52s do not have.
