Default OT Human Intrest

My father had turned 99 on July 4th this year, and with current health concerns over the states, I decided not to travel from DE to SC for the occasion.
With the assistance of MAFCA/MARC members, and other car club enthusiasts and owners, a drive-by birthday greeting was arranged.
About 15 cars participated, various makes, models and years represented, the day was a great success.
What a great hobby we have, and great people who make it what it is.
We all should be proud..!

Thanks, kb

Sorry, I have a dumb question. What does “OT” stand for?

That was a great idea and surely much appreciated. The local senior center here in my town had been on lockdown, no guests or family visits, since March. Three local car clubs organized a parade past the front of the center to entertain the cheering seniors who much appreciated seeing the old rolling stock. There can be little doubt that old cars remind everyone of better days. It was a great time for our club and something for clubs to consider during these crazy times.

Our AACA club organized our own parade on July 4th. When the word got out, two other clubs wanted to join in. We did a drive-by at the Anchorage Pioneer Home (among other places) and were well received by these "Pioneers" We had 25-30 cars all together. That's me leading the pack thru downtown with my flag proudly waving in the breeze. This picture was published on the front page of the Anchorage Daily News the next morning.

Great idea, that's why our local club, the River City Model A's will be doing a tour of
first Responder Fire Stations, Emergency Centers, Hospitals among other places on August 22nd in Columbus, GA. A"goooga's blaring and signs saying "Thank You". Photos after the tour.

I was able to secure the email addresses of the participants (hopefully not to overlook anyone), and sent my gratitude for the kindness they showed.
Knowing what it takes to prepare a car for show or scheduled event, and the time away from family, I could not thank enough.. only to pay it forward if a request would come in my area.
In my mind I am planning a similar event for his 100th..!!

Great hobby and caring people..! kb

Hi KB
I tried to upload a picture of your dad three times and it said "upload failed". I did everything it said to do but won't upload the picture. I only have one, but I'm sure I will get more so I can put it in our club newsletter. There were quite a few cars and it was a 90 degree day or there would have been more. Glad you called and let us know of your dad's birthday. It's not every day you turn 99? Let us know next April when the temps are nice down here and we will do his 100th and really get some cars out. Regards, Bruce

See if this works?

I guess it worked, now if anyone wants to see it they can click on the link and it will show Bob Kohr's Dad - Gib Kohr (99 years old watching the Model A's and old cars doing the drive-by)

Thanks for calling us and letting us know about your dad! The Queen City Model A Club has done a number of these since the Covid-19 pandemic. Always excited to bring some cheer these days.
Bruce
