1955 Country Squire Speedometer
Trying to fix the speedometer in my '55 Country Squire. It is a Fordomatic transmission.
I've replaced the cable with a NOS version that is correct for the '55 Fordomatic. As soon as the car gets to over 10mph, the cable begin squeaking and the needle pushes all the way to the right. It finally stops when I slow down to a stop. I've tried another speedometer purchased off Ebay, and connected it to the cable and setting it on the floor-- it does the same thing in both. Any suggestions? |

Might also try asking on the later model section (late V8 54+)

The drag cup is catching on the rotating magnet. The bearings either need lube or replacement. It may be easier to replace the whole unit.
