Correct spark plugs with plug adapter set
What are the correct spark plugs to use with the plug adapter set ?
(Strange : I ordered these adapters at Mac's and look what's on the back of the bag !) |

Re: Correct spark plugs with plug adapter set
Were you disappointed and if so did you call them and sick for a Zmacs envelope. I have received different vendor bags on numerous occasions. They frequent.l trade parts back and forth. As far as the plugs go just buy Champion 3X plugs and forget about adapters. That system you get performance and the best appearance posible. Adapter to me means, can't afford the authentic part! Re: Correct spark plugs with plug adapter set
I don't have a answer for your spark plug but yes I have ordered from one vendor and received packages marked from others; I have gotten items from Mike's marked Bratton's for example.

Re: Correct spark plugs with plug adapter set

Re: Correct spark plugs with plug adapter set
The only question I have is, "Why in the world would you want to put Bosch Platinum spark plugs in a Model A when there are so many original type plugs to choose from"?
Oh yea, there is such a wider variety of heat ranges and thread lengths to choose from. The only reason I have a plug adapter is for use with my compression tester, then I dug down deeper in my tool box and found the one that came with the tester!

Do the adapters change where the firing tip of the plug is located in the combustion chamber? I never held one but i know the modern oil fouler adapters do... |

They sure do! By quite a bit. I worked on a Model A that wasn't running well, and idling nice that had the adapters. It really does put the spark higher than the original firing spot. |

Re: Correct spark plugs with plug adapter set
I agree that just using the correct plugs will be best. I've been using the same plugs that came in my Phaeton in 1999, and have no plan to change them anytime soon.

[QUOTE=3.6rs;1395983
(Strange : I ordered these adapters at Mac's and look what's on the back of the bag !)[/QUOTE] I recently walked into the Early Ford Store in San Dimas, CA looking for some Model A parts. They carry used as well as new parts. On the floor were three or four large boxes that had labels with "Snyder's Antique Auto Parts" on them. I didn't ask about them, but I do know that the owner's son built a 1929 roadster hot rod using a Brookville body and a hot four banger. So the boxes could have been for his roadster. David Serrano |

Re: Correct spark plugs with plug adapter set
They all trade stuff around. I've even bought stuff from Berts and it came in a Mac's bag.
Before I new better, I bought my Snyder's head from Sacramento (just 'cause that was the only catalog I had, & it came with the vehicle.)

Re: Correct spark plugs with plug adapter set
Bottom line is it is no big deal and hardly worth making note of. They trade parts back and forth on a routine basis. If the part cost more at Snydeirs send them the Difference. Did you call Macs of report directly to the Barn! Wayne
