I'd double check as that isn't where cracks normally occur in a B block. Have you run the engine since acquiring the truck and if so was the exhaust free of moisture once the engine warmed up?

No I have not. Looking at it closely and using a fine grit of sand paper, it may be from the last owner prying off the head. Won`t know for sure until I get it out of the pickup. You are right in that it is not a usual place for them to crack with all the research I have been able to find. Either way I will clean it up before installing the Winfield head.

The parallel line to the right of the more obvious line supports the possibility of something like a crowbar being inserted to pry up the head. Keep your fingers crossed.
